Bringing the Seaside (and some sunshine) to Wesley
Our first Summer Holiday Club 2015 quite literally brought the seaside to Wesley; with sand, shells and rocks being used to create postcard collages, sand footprints and beach houses on rocks.
Some of us will spend time at the beach over summer, and Jesus spent a lot of time at the seaside / lake side too. He met his friends there, ate with them and told them stories there. The children also discovered that the word 'holidays' comes from holy days and how God likes us to rest from work and take time to spend with friends and enjoy the world!
Children got resourceful by recycling CD's to make sparkling fish and using paper bowls and paint strips of tissue paper to make long tentacle Jelly Fish. They also got super creative by making their own junk houses out of cereal boxes, cardboard tubes and plastic pots.
Children explored how Jesus enjoyed sharing meals with his friends by taking part in decorating small cakes with icing and using smarties to make a fish pattern - which they took home to enjoy.
Time to tidy up and put the fish fingers in the oven! We enjoyed beach ball games, stories and songs and then it was time to come together to enjoy our fish finger sandwiches - all plates were clean!
Thank you to everyone who came, enjoyed and made our holiday club another success! Look forward to seeing you in August at our next holiday club - Wednesday 26th August 10am - 12pm
