Nov: Thoughts from Huw

Dear Friends,

At a recent pastoral committee meeting we remembered in our thoughts and prayers those who have suffered and died during the Coronavirus pandemic and have been, over the years, an important part of the Wesley Memorial  Methodist Church family. We felt that as a community of faith we wanted to remember them in a service of remembrance and thanksgiving. It was decided on Wednesday December 1st  at 6pm  a short service be held to do this and the families of those who have died to be invited. The worship will include prayers, readings, hymns and reflections to help with the grief and loss felt . However, all are welcome to attend the service. Please come if you can.

We can all take hope that nothing can separate us from the love of God. In Psalm 139 we are reminded -

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I`m far away. If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me and your strength will support me.

We are all held by God in the palm of his hand and the words of the gaelic blessing give us hope and reassurance.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

With good wishes and prayers
Huw
