Words from Bede Circuit
Dear Friends,
Just another day
I watched the dawn break over the roof tops in the sky. Slowly, steadily, quietly the light emerged. A pale light at first almost hesitant, as if not to be too brilliant, gaudy or dazzling. A warning light, steady to say the dawn is on its way.
The fears of the dark night, the restless dreams are beginning to fade, as this pale but welcome light seeps through. The roof tops loose their starkness softened by the light.
The pale light begins to brighten a little as if to say, don’t worry, have patience because this light has to cover all the sky. Here it is at first in the east, but it will slowly spread and become stronger giving light to all.
I could see a very pale yellow and blue colour emerging in the sky. The darkness of the houses were soon changed by colourful, lightened, curtain windows of the early risers. Little puffs of steam arose from the central heating of the houses.
It was going to be a very cold day, but the sky was unaware of the cold, as it began to envelope the whole of the scene. Its pale light created its own warmth.
A golden glow has now appeared and it is so needed. Because the white cold frost has been revealed on the roof tops, the houses and flower beds . People look hopefully at the golden glow, as they rub their hands together and fight with the ice on the cars.
Wow! at last the golden glow of the sky produces its favourite character, a beaming sun. A sun that melts the frost and cheers the drivers of the frozen cars and good humour abounds. The hurly-burly of life commences, the golden day has begun.
However, the peace, the quiet of the early dawn is forgotten. But that was the beginning of the miracle of life, just another day.
Psalm 74 v16 ‘Yours is the day, yours also the night’.
