Words from Bede Circuit

Dear friends

Psalm 98 “O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things”

I hope this letter finds you well. I hope also that you may have been able to see someone in person- face to face- it seems strange doesn’t it after all this time? We hope that the plans for lifting restrictions continues safely and we can slowly get back to some normality. The day is coming I’m sure when we will be able to literally sing a new song together.

During lockdown we have had to work very differently as church. We have been introduced to new ways of working digitally- including business meetings, worship, training, prayer, studies, children’s work. Now I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but for some they want this to continue in some way. Another way of connecting as church has been through the weekly service sheet and we are looking at how we can continue providing this resource within the circuit. Of course worship in our buildings hopefully will continue or restart in some cases. With all of this we want to look at how we can continue communicating with one another but how we can use these resources as a means for mission.

So here is an invitation to you if you are interested in this work….

`Over the last year the Bede Circuit has had to find new ways to keep connected as a circuit, through Zoom, WhyPay? and a weekly news letter.

Many of us have engaged online with Sunday Services, Morning Prayer, Bible Study, Hymns Sings and the Good Friday Reflection. We’ve also gotten to know new people from different churches in different parts of the circuit.

As we start to return to our church buildings we have an exciting opportunity to look at how we can continue with and build upon the things we’ve done digitally.

We’re looking for some people to be involved in a small working party to look at these new opportunities for mission, what do we want to do online and how to put it into place. If you’d be interested in being part of this please contact Stephen Murray.

I ask also for your prayers for Huw starting his sabbatical ( IT IS NOT HOLIDAY!), Matt as he prepares for Ordination and for the Circuit Invitation Committee as it begins consultations with Huw and Deborah and then churches they currently serve.
