Words from Bede Circuit
Dear Friends,
New Beginnings
I am writing this letter to you following our Circuit Staff Meeting this morning when Matt Barrick our Circuit Youth Worker led the devotions taking the theme of ‘New Beginnings’. He told us about his daughter who had just started her first day of school. A new beginning for her and the family.
He went on to read words from the prophet Isaiah who in Chapter 43 v18-19 said; ‘Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing.’ Matt encouraged us not to be burdened by the past but to embrace positivity as we face the new beginnings in our lives.
With that clear message of hope and reassurance which can only come from God, I encourage you to do the same as we begin this new Methodist year. Try and be positive! Whatever the new challenges, struggles and opportunities we face in our personal lives or the lives of our churches and Circuit, remember to keep smiling, be positive, not dwelling on the past mistakes and blunders but putting faith, hope and trust in God who will lead us into the future and stay close to us, no matter what life throws at us.
We often sing ‘This, this is the God we adore…We’ll praise him for all that is past, And trust him for all that’s to come’ (Hymns and Psalms 277).
Our next Circuit service is on Zoom on Wednesday 22nd September at 7pm. Celebrating Revd Matt’s recent ordination and to welcome Revds Paul and Judith into the Circuit.
Bible studies start again on Thursday 23rd September at 7pm. We will study Mark’s Gospel as part of Bible Month.
Please contact your minister or church steward for login details.
Take care and stay safe,
With good wishes and prayers
Revd Huw Sperring on behalf of the Bede Methodist Circuit
