July: thoughts from Huw
Dear Friends,
In this double edition of Wesley News covering the months of July and August we look forward to summer sunshine and going away for day trips and holidays. Thanks to Bill Coates for producing this monthly magazine . Hopefully for us all this is a time of year to relax and refresh our bodies, minds and souls.
With our Church Annual General Meeting taking place on Sunday 3rd July following the morning service I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to you at Wesley for the great work you do week in week out. We have had challenging times to deal with but are getting back to business with the love and help of God.
Since coming out of Lockdown we have made some great steps this year with reaching out into the community with the coffee mornings, fellowship groups, serving teas and coffees outside the Church and welcoming groups back on to our premises.
Our Sunday morning worship is organised by our faithful Church Stewards and enriched by our Wesley Singers, Worship Leaders and Local Preachers drawing us closer to God and each other. Our premises are made welcoming by our hard working Property team and cleaners.
One of my favourite hymns is `Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live….All are welcome in this place` Those words are a challenge and encouragement to us. Perhaps we can reflect on them over the summer months.
Have a good summer,
Best wishes
Huw
