Words from Bede Circuit
Dear Friends
I hope this letter finds you well.
As I come to write this letter I feel like Victor Meldrew as I am thinking `I don’t believe it.’ I cannot believe that we are approaching the first Sunday of Advent, and yet here it is.
I always feel it is a season that can get pushed out by the pull of wanting to celebrate Christmas. But it is an important season to mark in helping us prepare for God coming to us. Advent is a time of waiting, listening, looking.
To help us as a circuit mark the season of Advent there will be a circuit service on December 1st at 7.00pm on Zoom. Contact the Church Steward for more details.
Also during this time we become aware of those who struggle during the winter months due to cold, hunger and poverty. Our circuit project, `Grace Place’ as part of its service gives out warm clothes to those who come through the doors. They are in need particularly of gloves, jogging bottoms, socks and woolly hats for men. If you could help in any way please contact Angela Lishman or any of the ministers.
I share a prayer to help you in this season as we wait- It is from the book Cradle of Hope.
All that you need-
Not necessarily all that you want,
Nor all that you would like,
But all that you really need-
Is offered you in Christmas.
Even though you have so much to do,
So much you rightly want to do
In love for other people,
So much of duty as well as of delight….
Of all the things that love will do
Above and beyond
The call of Christmas duty…
Somewhere during the preparing days
Or in a contented moment amidst the celebration
Or in the stillness ay the ending of the day
Make room… Space… Time…
To begin to receive to yourself
What Love has planned and prepared
Especially for YOU….
